The temple of Surutapalli, also known as Sri Pallikondeswara Swamy Temple, is a special Shiva temple situated near the border of Tamil Nadu and in Surutapalli, in Andhra Pradesh. The temple is renowned for its unique representation of Lord Shiva lying on top of Goddess Parvati's lap. It is also linked to the worship of Pradosha and is an attraction for the devotees all through the year.

As per Hindu belief, Lord Shiva, after drinking the deadly Halahala poison during the Samudra Manthan, became exhausted and laid his head on the lap of Goddess Parvati. This God-given instant is symbolized by the reclining posture of Shiva at this temple.

The temple is related to the Vijayanagara era and has been credited to the construction of the temple by the kings of Vijayanagara, Harihara and Bukka Raya.   2. By Air: Chennai International Airport and Tirupati Airport are the nearest major airports, from which one has to travel by road to reach the temple.
  3. By Rail: Tirupati and nearby railway stations can be used as railheads, followed by a taxi or bus journey to Surutapalli.

A rare reclining form of Shiva is present in the temple, making it a very important pilgrimage site in Andhra Pradesh.
