Everything You Need to Know About Creating a Global Entry Account and Login

What is Global Entry?

Global Entry is a U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) program that allows expedited clearance for pre-approved, low-risk travelers upon arrival in the United States. With Global Entry, you can use automated kiosks to clear customs and bypass the regular customs line.

Eligibility Requirements

To qualify for Global Entry, you must:

  • Be a citizen of the United States, Canada, Mexico, or South Korea.
  • Be at least 18 years old.
  • Have no criminal history.
  • Have a valid U.S. passport.
  • Complete an online application and interview process.

Applying for Global Entry

To apply for Global Entry:

  • Visit the Global Online Enrollment System website and create an account. You'll provide personal information for a background check.
  • Pay the non-refundable $100 application fee. The fee is valid for 5 years.
  • Schedule an in-person or virtual interview at an enrollment center near you. The interview takes around 10 minutes.
  • If approved, you'll receive a Known Traveler Number (KTN) which you use when booking US-bound travel.

Setting Up Your Account

Once approved, you'll receive login credentials for your online Global Entry account. To set up your account:

  • Go to the CBP website and click "Sign In" to access your account.
  • Create login credentials like a unique username and password.
  • Add your passport info, personal details, and at least one matching flight reservation.
  • Save your KTN in your account - you'll need this to use kiosks.

Using Global Entry Kiosks

When returning to the US through a participating airport, proceed to the Global Entry kiosks:

  • Scan your passport or enter your passport number.
  • Provide digital fingerprints for identity verification.
  • Answer the customs declaration questions shown.
  • A CBP officer may inspect your items after clearing. You're then free to exit!

Renewing Your Membership

Check your online account 4-6 months before your Global Entry expires. You can renew by paying $100 for another 5 years through your existing account details. Renew on time to maintain access to kiosks.
